Frankenstein

You see definitions of beauty in the descriptions of the landscape and Frankenstein. They both hold these dark, eery, but beautiful wordy descriptions.
You see technology come into play with the creation of Frankenstein himself. Till this day we dream of creating a man the way they created Frankenstein.,
You also see nature in the description of the landscape in the story.
The description of the graveyard where the parts to build Frankenstein came from was also a theme of definition of beauty. He describes it as beautiful in only a way he would understand.

Royal Jelly

Roald Dahl developed this story till the very last sentence. He has you read through a nail biter only to finally figure out what happens the very last line. Genius. He made the characters real by developing their whole being very realistic. The characterization in this short story is impeccable. While you can see the story slowly dwindle to the end and you know something is going to be wrong with the baby and the father Roald Dahl keeps you honest, and on your toes, he doesn't totally tell you how it's going to end with horrible foreshadowing.

Tennyson

Tennyson was a realist, and also recognized the beauty in everything. You see he is a realist by his comparisons, they are relative to the real world.
Ulysses felt like he was missing some excitement. He was conflicted because he did want to go out and adventure, but he also wanted to be with his family.

The Rime of the Ancient Mariner

The mariner's lifelong penance was to tell his story to anybody who would give him the time of day. His story would remind people that life isn't so bad that it can always get worse, doing this gave people a more positive outlook on life. The other theme of his story was that nature and all of God's creations should be respected. Everybody wins in this situation, the mariner wins because people listen to him and somehow gains some type of importance in other people's life, and everybody who does listen become satisfied with what life they're living.

Kubla Khan Picture

Sorry for the art, I'm no artist, but this is how I imagined the description of the dream in Kubla Khan.

The World Is Too Much With Us

The story critizes us for not appreciating the beautiful Earth we live on. We complain about things like howling winds, but it's such a beautiful thing if you really think about it. How can we polute and kill such a beautiful Earth, we are killing things like fish, flowers and other animals that live among us. This story really trying to emphasize that this planet is under appreciated for all it's beauty.

Lamb To The Slaughter

Mary Maloney, once a man's dreamed up house wife is now a cold blooded killer. I took Patrick Maloney's news as he was divorcing her, the story never truly told what his news was. It obviously wasn't good news because Mary was sick to her stomach and was on cloud nine while trying to make him supper. The first suspect in any murder case is always the person's significant other, just because they knew this man and his wife they dismissed Mary. They were played for fools and ate the thing that killed their fellow coworker while Mary giggled in the other room. I would assume with the murder weapon out of the equation Mary would walk away from this as a free women, assumed to be a mourning widow. Why was Patrick trying to divorce Mary? It seemed like she lived just to please him. Constantly asking to grab something for him, or trying to make him something, he wasn't asking for any of this. He didn't ask for the whisky, as soon as he walked in the door no words were said she just knew he always wanted one after work.
